Teofimo Lopez has signed directly with DAZN, bypassing the traditional promoter model that has long shaped fighters’ careers. The agreement gives the former two-division world champion greater control over his future and allows him to negotiate fights without being tied exclusively to one promotional company.

However, questions remain over who will handle responsibilities normally covered by promoters, including securing venues, organizing undercards, marketing events and absorbing financial risk. DAZN has not yet explained how those duties will be divided.

The deal also reflects the streaming platform’s growing willingness to work directly with fighters rather than relying entirely on promotional partners to deliver events.

Lopez’s first fight following the announcement will be a major test, as he challenges WBA welterweight champion Rolando “Rolly” Romero on August 22 in Las Vegas.
