The teams behind Terence Crawford and Canelo Alvarez’s 2025 showdown will meet again this weekend in Egypt, this time in a heavyweight final eliminator.
Brian “BoMac” McIntyre, who trained Crawford throughout his career, will be in Richard Torrez Jr.’s corner when the unbeaten American faces Frank Sanchez at the Pyramids of Giza. Across the ring will be longtime Canelo trainer Eddy Reynoso, who has worked with Sanchez for several years.
Torrez, a U.S. Olympic silver medalist, recently linked up with McIntyre at the B&B Sports Academy in Omaha. The trainer has been impressed with what he has seen and expects Torrez’s will and unbeaten mentality to matter in the fight.
“Frank Sanchez is a great fighter,” McIntyre said. “He has a great team behind him, a great coach. I know for a fact that over there with Eddy Reynoso those guys stay ready.”
Sanchez is looking to rebuild his title push after losing to Agit Kabayel in 2024. A win over Torrez would put the Cuban heavyweight back in position for a shot at IBF champion Oleksandr Usyk.
