The light welterweight division experienced a fresh jolt of excitement as IBF champion Subriel Matias called out the undefeated Devin Haney, branding him the “running chicken.” Matias, with a formidable record of 19-1, all wins by knockouts, minced no words about Haney’s fighting style, challenging him directly: “Devin Haney, I want to fight you. Please give me the opportunity.”

While Haney, at 30-0, has been eyeing matchups with boxing titans like Regis Prograis, Teofimo Lopez, and Ryan Garcia, Matias’ direct callout has certainly turned heads. The Puerto Rican pugilist did, however, tip his hat to Haney’s technique, predicting a Haney victory if a bout against Prograis comes to fruition.

On the other end of Matias’ critiques is WBA 140-lb champion Rolando “Rolly” Romero, whom he dismissed as a “stand-up comedian,” especially after Rolly’s contentious win against Ismael Barroso. As the light welterweight division brims with challenges and potential clashes, the question on everyone’s lips is: Who will Haney face next?
