Undisputed middleweight champion Claressa Shields has voiced her support for Katie Taylor ahead of her forthcoming 10-round fight against Chantelle Cameron. Despite Cameron’s size and youth advantage, Shields believes Taylor’s determination, skill, and experience will prove insurmountable in their duel for Cameron’s IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC, and WBO 140-pound championships.

Initially, Taylor (22-0, 6 KOs) was scheduled to face Amanda Serrano in a rematch at 3Arena in Dublin. However, Serrano withdrew due to a hand injury, leading Taylor to challenge Cameron (17-0, 8 KOs), the recently crowned undisputed 140-pound champion of women’s boxing.

Shields doesn’t foresee Cameron overcoming Taylor, who is currently nearly a 2-1 favorite in most sportsbooks. “There aren’t many women in this game who I think can beat Katie in a fight,” Shields said. “I just think that Katie, when she’s in those tough fights, that she finds a way to win.”

DAZN will stream the Taylor-Cameron fight worldwide as the main event of a show scheduled to start today at 7 p.m. IST and 2 p.m. EDT. The spotlight will continue on Shields herself two weeks later, as she headlines a championship rematch with Hanna Gabriels (21-2-1, 12 KOs) on June 3, streamed by DAZN from Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
