Shakur Stevenson is sticking with Errol Spence Jr. to beat Tim Tszyu when the two meet in Australia on July 25.
Spence is returning from a three-year layoff after his stoppage loss to Terence Crawford, and the fight with Tszyu will take place at a 158lbs catchweight. The extra weight gives Spence some room after years at welterweight and a long spell out of the ring.
Tszyu has rebuilt with two points wins since his defeat to Sebastian Fundora, but his stoppage loss to Bakhram Murtazaliev still leaves questions about how he handles elite pressure and firepower.
Stevenson believes Spence has the mentality and toughness to expose those questions. “I know Errol is mentally tough - Errol is a dog when it comes to fighting,” Stevenson said. “So I don’t think Tim Tszyu can beat him.”
Shakur has previously also said Tszyu could get “destroyed” by Spence, and he has not moved away from that view.
