Santiago Garces has revived his professional career by recording three consecutive victories after previously suffering 43 defeats.
The 23-year-old Colombian super welterweight now holds a record of (8-43-7, 4 KOs) after spending much of his career travelling as a road fighter against prospects and unbeaten opponents across Europe and South America.
Garces began his resurgence with a third-round retirement victory over Gabriel Martinez before stopping Jose Cedeno in three rounds. He then extended the streak by defeating Wilmer Garzon via unanimous decision over eight rounds, giving him the longest winning run of his career.
Garces had started his career unbeaten through seven fights before going three years without a victory while accepting difficult assignments in countries including England, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Ireland, Poland and France.
Now ranked seventh among Colombia’s super welterweights, Garces could move toward a national title opportunity if he continues building on his unexpected turnaround.
