Sam Noakes insists Denys Berinchyk should not be dismissed because of his stoppage defeat to Keyshawn Davis ahead of their August 29 fight at London’s O2 Arena.
The English lightweight believes Davis is an exceptional talent and says Berinchyk’s wider body of work offers a more accurate picture of the challenge he presents.
“Losing to Keyshawn Davis don’t make him rubbish,” Noakes said. “He’s still a dangerous fight. He’s a live fighter, so I’m focusing on that.”
Berinchyk is a former WBO lightweight champion who won the title by defeating Emanuel Navarrete after a successful amateur career.
Noakes enters the contest after a unanimous decision defeat to Abdullah Mason last November and views Berinchyk as the biggest name he has faced.
The bout will take place on the undercard of Moses Itauma vs Filip Hrgovic, with victory expected to move Noakes closer to another world title opportunity.
