Ryan Garcia has named Teofimo Lopez as his next opponent, revealing plans to fight on July 25 as he looks to build on his recent world title win.
Garcia captured his first world title in February with a clear decision victory over Mario Barrios, positioning himself for major fights at welterweight. A rematch with Devin Haney had been discussed, but both fighters now appear set to take interim bouts before revisiting their rivalry.
Speaking on a live stream, Garcia confirmed the targeted date and opponent. “July 25th… I’m [beating] Teofimo. Bring him on,” he said.
Lopez is coming off a loss to Shakur Stevenson for the WBO super lightweight title but has already indicated his move up to welterweight. His résumé includes wins over Vasiliy Lomachenko and Josh Taylor, making him a credible opponent despite the recent setback.
If finalized, the fight would add another high-profile name to Garcia’s record and serve as a key step before any potential return bout with Haney later in the year.
