Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz and Lamont Roach Jr. battled to a hard-fought majority draw in San Antonio this weekend, but Ryan Garcia sees the outcome differently. The former lightweight star weighed in online after the bout, siding with Roach in what he felt was a razor-close contest.

Cruz started fast, flooring Roach in the third round and applying his trademark pressure. Roach, making his second move up in weight this year, responded well down the stretch, tightening the action as Cruz faded. A seventh-round point deduction against Cruz only added to the drama heading into the final scores.

One judge had it 115–113 for Cruz, while the remaining two saw it even at 113–113. For Roach, it marks a second straight draw in a major fight, following his controversial stalemate with Gervonta Davis at 135lbs earlier this year.

Garcia, however, viewed the fight through a different lens. Posting on X, he wrote that he felt Roach “won that in a close, close fight, maybe by one round or two,” though he added he was “not mad at the draw at all.”

With Errol Spence Jr. also leaning toward Cruz and Shakur Stevenson favoring Roach, the result has stirred lively debate across the boxing world. Both fighters expressed interest in an immediate rematch during the post-fight press conference - setting the stage for a second chapter after a bout that left plenty unresolved.
