Richard Torrez Jr. says he would welcome a future fight with Moses Itauma, calling the unbeaten British heavyweight an “incredible fighter” and predicting that their styles would create fireworks.
Torrez discussed the possible matchup ahead of his May 23 fight with Frank Sanchez at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt. The Olympic silver medalist made clear that he is open to the challenge, saying: “I’m about that action, man.”
The American believes Itauma has not yet faced a heavyweight with his speed, movement and quickness. Torrez also pointed to his feints, conditioning and amateur background as tools that could make him a difficult opponent for any rising contender.
“If we were able to collide and make something happen, it’d be fireworks,” Torrez said. “I don’t run from smoke. I want the best fights.”
