David Benavidez and David Morrell generated an impressive 150,000 to 160,000 PPV buys for their February 1st showdown on PBC on Prime Video. Priced at $79.95, the event pulled solid numbers for a fight many questioned due to the steep cost compared to the Riyadh Season events, which often offer lower PPV prices.

Scoring tallies of 118-108, 115-111, and 115-111 reflected the edge Benavidez gained through relentless body work and pressure. Some ringside observers felt the bout was closer than what the final cards indicated, still, with Morrell’s once-frightening knockout ratio, the “Mexican Monster” deserves credit for emerging victorious and unscathed by significant cuts or injuries.

Benavidez now has his sights set on the winner of the February 22nd rematch between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol. It’s widely anticipated that Beterbiev could be the one waiting on the other side with four belts on the line, and he won’t let Benavidez bully him on the inside as easily as Morrell did.

The undercard gave fans plenty of action as well, featuring Brandon Figueroa vs. Stephen Fulton Jr., Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz vs. Angel Fierro, Jesus Ramorez Jr. vs. Jeison Rosario, Curmel Moton vs. Frank Zaldivar, and Jose Ramirez Jr. vs. Danny Rosenberger.
