Manny Pacquiao has cast doubt over his planned “tune-up” bout as he prepares for a high-profile rematch with Floyd Mayweather later this year.
Pacquiao, who returned to action in July with a draw against Mario Barrios, had initially agreed to face Ruslan Provodnikov in a 10-round exhibition on April 18 in Las Vegas. However, the bout has reportedly been postponed to June, and Pacquiao himself is now uncertain whether it will take place at all. “Not sure yet… even if it’s just a tune-up fight,” he said.
The uncertainty comes as Pacquiao shifts focus toward his September rematch with Mayweather, a lucrative event expected to headline in Las Vegas. With that fight looming, questions remain over the value of taking an additional bout beforehand.
Provodnikov, who has not competed professionally in nearly a decade, has remained active in exhibition contests, but the risk of injury or disruption to Pacquiao’s preparation could influence the final decision.
