Oscar De La Hoya says he is now working to make Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn, calling it the fight “everybody wants to see.”

Garcia’s mandatory defense of the WBC welterweight title against Benn has been discussed throughout 2026, with the Briton linked to the fight after his April win over Regis Prograis.

De La Hoya had previously said he had not been approached about the matchup, raising doubts over the reported September 12 date in Las Vegas that Garcia had mentioned.

That now appears to have changed. De La Hoya posted on Instagram that he has received the message and is ready to push the fight forward.

“We are working on Ryan Garcia vs. Benn,” De La Hoya said. “I just got the memo today, that is the fight that everybody wants to see, so I am going to make it happen for you guys.”
