Cacace believes a win over Dickens would establish him among Ireland’s most accomplished fighters, alongside figures such as Carl Frampton and Katie Taylor. He also noted that both he and Dickens have taken difficult routes to reach the top level of the sport.
Dickens earned the WBA junior lightweight title after stopping Albert Batyrgaziev for the interim belt before being elevated when Lamont Roach Jr. vacated the championship. Like Cacace, the Liverpool fighter achieved world title success after several earlier setbacks.
