Oleksandr Usyk says he would consider fighting for a Zuffa Boxing championship as he weighs the final bout of his career.
The three-time undisputed champion confirmed that his team has already held discussions with Dana White and that he has personally met the Zuffa Boxing chief.
“Why not? It’s a new belt, a new opportunity,” Usyk said. “I know my team speaks with Dana. I have met with Dana.”
Usyk revealed that he currently has two options under consideration for his next fight, although he did not identify the alternative. For now, he is taking time away from boxing with his family.
The Ukrainian has also indicated that he plans to vacate his heavyweight titles so younger contenders can compete for them, explaining that he remembers how long he once waited for his own championship opportunity.
Usyk believes he has only one fight remaining before retirement, and a deal with Zuffa Boxing could see him finish his career outside the traditional sanctioning-body title system.
