Oleksandr Usyk believes Moses Itauma will overcome Filip Hrgovic and continue proving himself as the future of the heavyweight division.
Itauma strengthened his growing reputation by stopping Jermaine Franklin in the fifth round in March, but now faces the toughest assignment of his career on August 29 at London’s O2 Arena.
Hrgovic has established himself as a top-10 heavyweight, with his only professional defeat coming when he was stopped on cuts against Daniel Dubois in 2024. Usyk, however, does not view the Croatian as an overwhelming challenge for the 21-year-old.
“He’s not a big test, but he’s a test,” Usyk said. “Itauma, for me, is a special guy because he’s very relaxed before fights and after fights.”
Usyk then gave a simple verdict on Itauma’s long-term potential: “Future.”
