Welterweight prospect Joel Iriarte believes he has the chance to become the new face of Golden Boy Promotions as he prepares for his next fight. The unbeaten 22-year-old will face Rock Myrthil in an eight-round bout this Saturday at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Iriarte (9-0, 8 KOs) sees an opening within the promotion at a time when several of its biggest names are making headlines. Ryan Garcia recently captured the WBC welterweight title, while junior middleweight contender Vergil Ortiz Jr. is currently involved in a legal dispute with the company.

The young prospect believes strong performances this year could elevate him to a leading role within the organization. Iriarte said that if he can deliver impressive victories and continue building his knockout record, he could emerge as one of Golden Boy’s central figures.

During preparation for the fight, Iriarte sparred with established stars including Ryan Garcia and junior middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora. He said sharing the ring with fighters operating at the top level gave him insight into what it takes to compete among boxing’s elite.

Iriarte was originally scheduled to face Jireh De los Santos in January, but that bout was canceled on fight night. He now returns against Myrthil (17-2-1, 13 KOs), who has not fought since August 2023 when he fought to a draw against Jesus Ramon Lugo Garcia.
