Naoya Inoue has praised Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez’s ability to find openings and land precise shots as talk continues over a potential showdown between the two stars.
Rodriguez recently moved up to bantamweight and stopped Antonio Vargas in the sixth round to win the WBA title, becoming a three-division world champion.
Inoue admitted Rodriguez appeared slightly undersized physically at the new weight but said his effectiveness comes more from timing and accuracy than raw strength.
“His strength isn’t really about physical power,” Inoue said. “He has the ability to punch through you with pinpoint accuracy.”
The Japanese star added that Rodriguez is particularly dangerous because of his ability to land punches opponents do not see coming and exploit small openings.
Inoue plans to return early next year, while Rodriguez is expected to pursue another fight at bantamweight before a possible clash with Inoue in 2027.
