Nahir Albright, despite the odds, showcased immense tenacity in his recent bout against Keyshawn Davis. While many anticipated Davis to dominate, Albright, a Philly native, disrupted those predictions. In the past, his performances wavered when faced with stronger opponents. Yet, during the October 14th fight at Fort Bend Epicenter, Texas, Albright resisted falling into a familiar narrative. Demonstrating incredible resilience, he exchanged powerful punches with Davis, compelling the latter to stay alert throughout. Although he couldn’t secure a win after ten grueling rounds, Albright’s display revealed his potential to challenge the best.
Reflecting on his performance, a self-critical Albright confessed to YSM Sports Media, “I’m better than that.” Such setbacks don’t deter him. Merely days after his loss to Davis, Albright was already contemplating his next move, expressing his eagerness to his team for another bout.
Come December 9th, Albright is slated to enter the ring in Philadelphia. Though his opponent remains unnamed, he isn’t anticipating an exceedingly formidable contender. While his agenda for 2023 wraps up with this December fight, Albright envisions a promising 2024. Even though he currently lacks the spotlight that some of his peers enjoy, which means he’s not dictating terms, Albright harbors ambitions of taking on the best in his weight class.
In his words, Albright senses a significant opportunity approaching. His recent performance has added to his recognition, and he’s eager to challenge the elite. Issuing a direct challenge, he stated, “Any top guy out there, I want smoke. Shakur Stevenson, I wanna fight you.”
