Murat Gassiev says negotiations are underway for his next fight, but the WBA heavyweight champion has not yet been given a confirmed opponent or location.
Gassiev stopped Peter Kadiru last month before Derek Chisora confronted him after the fight, immediately fueling speculation about a potential matchup.
“Everything is possible if it makes sense for my career and my team supports it,” Gassiev said of facing Chisora. “Why not? Derek remains dangerous despite having had a lot of fights.”
Jarrell Miller has also made clear that he wants Gassiev and sits at the top of the WBA rankings, although Gassiev gave no indication that negotiations with Miller are close to producing a fight.
“At the moment, I do not have any information about my next fight,” Gassiev said. “Negotiations are taking place, and different options and opponents are being considered.”
Gassiev also weighed in on the possible Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua fight, saying the matchup is “five years late” but would still interest him and could fill Wembley Stadium if staged in England.
