Mike Tyson has backed Ryan Garcia to defeat Conor Benn in their WBC welterweight title fight this Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Garcia will make the first defense of the belt he won earlier this year with a unanimous-decision victory over Mario Barrios.
Asked for his prediction, Tyson sided with Garcia but acknowledged Benn’s recent improvement. “Ryan [wins],” Tyson said. “We’ll see [if it ends by knockout]. Conor’s getting better.”
Benn enters the fight after victories over Chris Eubank Jr. in their rematch and Regis Prograis, but he will be competing at the 147-pound limit for the first time since April 2022. The British fighter has already said that, regardless of the result, this will be his final appearance at welterweight before moving up in weight.
