Mike Tyson has stunned the boxing world once again, announcing that he will face Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a blockbuster exhibition early next year and that it will take place in Africa. The two legends, who share a combined age of 107, have been linked to a clash for months, but Tyson’s latest comments mark the first time a timeline and location have been publicly declared.
Speaking at an Experience with Mike Tyson event, the former heavyweight champion confirmed what many believed to be little more than rumor. “Me? [My next fight is going to be] Floyd Mayweather,” Tyson said, shocking fans in attendance. When pressed for details, he added, “It’s going to be in March. And it’s going to be in Africa.”
The matchup, first reported in September and reaffirmed by SunSport in October, had yet to land an official date or venue until Tyson’s revelation. He described the event with trademark flair, promising something unprecedented in the sport. “This is going to be incredible. We’re going to break all the records,” he said. “It’s going to be one of the biggest events in the history of the sport.”
