Aaron McKenna has secured a shot at the vacant IBF middleweight title and is set to face Oliha Etinosa next.

The International Boxing Federation has ordered the bout, giving both camps 30 days to reach an agreement before a purse bid is called.

The title became vacant after Janibek Alimkhanuly was stripped following a failed drug test ahead of a planned unification clash with Erislandy Lara in December.

McKenna, from Monaghan, had been pushing for a world title opportunity following his win over Liam Smith. The upcoming fight now gives him the chance to become Ireland’s next world champion alongside names like Anthony Cacace.

Etinosa enters the contest unbeaten, setting up a title fight between two rising middleweights with a belt on the line.
