Floyd Mayweather Jr. has confirmed that his September 19 rematch with Manny Pacquiao will be an exhibition and not an official professional contest.

The 49-year-old also revealed that the venue is still not finalized, despite earlier discussions about hosting the event at the Sphere. “We don’t know exactly where the fight is going to be at,” Mayweather said, noting that the Sphere remains one of several options.

The bout comes more than a decade after their first meeting in 2015, where Mayweather defeated Pacquiao by decision in a record-breaking event. This time, however, the rematch will not impact either fighter’s official record.

Mayweather added that exhibitions are now part of his schedule, referencing planned appearances against Mike Tyson and Mike Zambidis. “Why not go out and have a little fun and entertain the public,” he said.
