Former WBC featherweight champion Mark Magsayo will face unbeaten Andres Cortes in a 10-round lightweight bout on September 12 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The fight will open the broadcast for Zuffa Boxing’s Ryan Garcia vs. Conor Benn event, which also features Jai Opetaia against Noel Mikaelian in the cruiserweight co-main event.
Magsayo has won five straight fights since moving to lightweight in 2023. He most recently stopped Feargal McCrory in five rounds at Zuffa Boxing 05 in April. Cortes also competed on that card, defeating Eridson Garcia by unanimous decision in the main event.
“Andres Cortes called me out, and I answered,” Magsayo said. “He won’t have his ‘0’ after I get done with him.”
Cortes responded with his own prediction: “I’m going to destroy Mark Magsayo on September 12.”
Garcia-Benn will stream on Paramount+ in the United States and DAZN PPV in the UK and Ireland.
