The Teofimo Lopez vs Shakur Stevenson event has suffered a significant setback just hours before fight night, with a scheduled world title bout removed from the card due to illness.
The main event remains intact, with Stevenson attempting to become a four-division world champion and Lopez aiming to retain his 140lb belt. The fight is the clear centerpiece of the show, which also features notable names such as Keyshawn Davis and Jarrell Miller on the undercard.
However, one of the two additional world title fights has fallen through. It was reported that Carlos Adames has been forced to withdraw from his planned WBC middleweight title defense against Austin “Ammo” Williams due to illness. According to Williams’ manager, Sam Katkovski, efforts are underway to secure a replacement opponent so Williams can still compete on the card.
The withdrawal means Adames will remain sidelined longer, delaying his return following his draw with Hamzah Sheeraz in February 2025. His bout with Williams had been scheduled as one of the marquee championship contests supporting the main event.
Despite the late change, one other world title fight remains on the bill, with Bruce Carrington set to face Carlos Castro for the vacant WBC featherweight title.
