Loma officially preparing for a return to professional boxing!
According to Mike Coppinger, Lomachenko’s contract with Top Rank has now expired, making the former three-division world champion a promotional free agent for the first time in years. He is reportedly targeting a return this fall and is only interested in taking major fights.
That shift opens a new chapter in his career. Without promotional restrictions, the Ukrainian star can now pursue the biggest fights in boxing, including Riyadh Season events and potential projects linked to Turki Alalshikh. His free-agent status also keeps all major promotional options open, including the possibility of even potentially joining Zuffa boxing-related plans, depending on how the sport continues to evolve.
Now 38 years old, Loma still returns as one of the most technically gifted fighters of his generation and one of boxing’s biggest available names. His decision to avoid tune-up fights suggests he still believes he can compete immediately at the elite level despite the lengthy layoff.
This is great news for boxing fans and the sport overall. It brings real excitement back to the lightweight division and adds another big storyline at a time when the weight class is already full of top talent and major matchups.
