A vacant IBF super lightweight title fight between Lindolfo Delgado and Artur Biyarslanov is being lined up for the Canelo Alvarez vs Christian Mbilli undercard in Riyadh.

Canelo is set to challenge Mbilli for the WBC super middleweight title after losing his undisputed crown to Terence Crawford last September. The fight was originally announced for September 12, but the Riyadh event has now been pushed back to October.

The card is expected to carry a “Mexico vs The World” theme, and Delgado vs Biyarslanov would fit that concept. Delgado represents Mexico, while Biyarslanov, who is promoted by Eye of the Tiger alongside Mbilli, represents Canada.

ESPN’s Salvador Rodriguez reported that the recently ordered vacant IBF title fight is expected to land on the Canelo-Mbilli bill. “Delgado-Biyarslanov for the vacant IBF Super Lightweight could take place on the undercard of Canelo vs Mbilli,” he wrote.

Sources close to the event also indicated that Delgado-Biyarslanov had been planned for the original September 12 date.
