Lennox Lewis believes he would have found a way to beat Oleksandr Usyk if they had fought in the same era.

Usyk remains unbeaten and has already cleaned out cruiserweight before moving up to heavyweight and beating some of the division’s biggest names. His heavyweight résumé includes two wins each over Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois, and he currently holds the WBC, WBA and IBF titles.

But Lewis, the last undisputed heavyweight champion before Usyk, says he does not understand why today’s fighters have struggled so much to solve the Ukrainian’s style.

“I wish I was in this era because I would have loved to have boxed him,” Lewis said. “I can’t see why nobody can’t figure him out, I would have figured him out.”

Lewis was undisputed champion after beating Evander Holyfield in 1999 and also scored major wins over Mike Tyson and Vitali Klitschko during his Hall of Fame career. He retired having avenged every defeat he suffered.
