Jonathan “Bomba” Gonzalez has signed with Salita Promotions as he looks to maximize the final stretch of his career following his recent resurgence. The WBA interim flyweight titleholder made the move just three months after scoring a major upset win over Yankiel Rivera to claim the belt.
Gonzalez, a former WBO junior flyweight champion, believes the partnership will open the door to bigger opportunities, particularly with Salita Promotions’ presence on DAZN. The 34-year-old has made it clear that his goal is to become a two-division world champion, naming a potential clash with the winner of Ricardo Sandoval vs. Galal Yafai as his ideal next step.
The deal came together quickly after Gonzalez received an unexpected call from promoter Dmitriy Salita, with discussions leading to an agreement soon after. Now based in Puerto Rico, the Bronx-born southpaw expects to return to the ring this summer as he pushes for high-profile fights at 112lbs.
Salita praised his new signing as a proven fighter with championship pedigree, expressing confidence in Gonzalez’s ability to compete at the highest level. For Gonzalez, the focus is clear as he enters what he expects to be his final four to five fights.
“I’ve been at the top before, and I know what it takes to get back there,” Gonzalez said. “This is about continuing to prove myself, taking on the best, and showing that I’m still one of the best fighters in the world.”
