Johnny Fisher has confirmed he is now a promotional free agent, opening the door for offers from across the boxing market.

Fisher had built a strong following with Matchroom Boxing, regularly topping bills at London’s Copper Box Arena and becoming one of the UK’s biggest ticket sellers. But his momentum took a hit after last year’s defeat to Dave Allen, and his only fight since was a fourth-round stoppage of Ivan Balaz in December.

The 27-year-old says his exclusive negotiation period with Matchroom has now ended, meaning he can speak with other promoters while still discussing a new deal with Eddie Hearn.

“I’m now at a really important part of my career,” Fisher said. “I’m negotiating my deal with Eddie Hearn as we speak, but I’m also in a position where I can hear people at the same time.”

Fisher made clear he is not closing the door on Matchroom, noting the big nights he has already had under their banner. But he also wants to understand his value before deciding the next move.

“I’d be a fool not to see what my market value is,” Fisher said. “I’ve got to see how what Eddie is offering stacks up.”
