John Fury believes he has found a heavyweight who reminds him of a young Tyson Fury: Germany’s Granit Shala.

Fury has long argued that Tyson’s size, movement and boxing brain made him a unique heavyweight, but after watching footage of Shala, he says he sees something familiar. Shala stands at 6’9” and currently holds an 18-2 professional record.

“I think that I have just spotted the new Tyson Fury in Granit Shala,” John Fury said. “I’ve looked at his videos and his boxing ability and this kid is incredible.”

Fury compared Shala’s style and physical transformation to his son’s early years, saying the German heavyweight has “the same kind of style as a young Tyson Fury” and has also lost a lot of weight while rebuilding himself.

“He shocked me to my boots,” Fury said. “I never thought that I could see another Tyson Fury but, tonight, I have seen him.”

Shala is coming off a stoppage loss to Petar Milas, though he was ahead on the cards before being knocked out in the final round. John Fury still believes there is major potential there and says he wants Shala involved in camp as a sparring partner.
