Joe Joyce will return on July 11 against unbeaten Russian heavyweight Artem Suslenkov on the Murat Gassiev vs. Tony Yoka undercard at VTB Arena in Moscow.
Joyce has not fought since April 2025, when he pushed Filip Hrgovic through a tough 10-round fight but lost by unanimous decision. Before that, he was outpointed by Derek Chisora, following a stoppage win over Kash Ali in 2024.
Now 40, Joyce is trying to rebuild with a new trainer, having linked up with SugarHill Steward. “I’ve spent the last year preparing, training and wanting to be back in the ring,” Joyce said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to travel to Russia and challenge for the WBA continental heavyweight title on July 11.”
Suslenkov is a risky comeback opponent. He has already beaten Michael Hunter and Christian Hammer on points, and enters off stoppage wins over Agron Smakici and Artur Mann.
