Heavyweight contender Joe Joyce insists he has no intention of hanging up his gloves despite recent setbacks and ongoing questions about his durability, as the 39-year-old Londoner is set to face Filip Hrgovic this Saturday at Manchester’s Co-op Live, aiming to position himself back among the top names in the division.
Previously Joyce has endured three losses in his last four fights, including a unanimous-decision defeat to Derek Chisora in July and back-to-back stoppages against Zhilei Zhang. Despite concerns about his once-formidable chin and calls for him to retire, Joyce says he remains focused on continuing his career.

“That’s all what other people have said,” Joyce said, referencing external pressure to walk away from the sport. “I’ve never thought about leaving.”
When asked why he continues to compete at 39, Joyce provided a straightforward reply: “Well, it’s a job and it pays well. I enjoy it, especially winning. I’m a good boxer and I’m in exciting fights for a reason.”
