Jason Moloney believes staying active and surrounding himself with the right team will be crucial as he pursues another world title. The former WBO bantamweight champion returns to action on April 23 against Andre Donovan at Fortitude Music Hall in Fortitude Valley, Queensland.

Moloney says his goal is clear as he begins the next phase of his career. The Australian veteran is aiming to become a two-time world champion and believes regular fights will help him move closer to that objective. The upcoming bout will be his second appearance since signing with promoter Mick Francis’ Tasman Fighters.

The partnership has already injected new momentum into Moloney’s career following his previous run with Top Rank. During that period he faced Naoya Inoue in 2020 and later captured the WBO bantamweight title with a victory over Vincent Astrolabio in May 2023. He successfully defended the belt once before losing it by unanimous decision to Yoshiki Takei in May 2024.

Moloney later returned to face Tenshin Nasukawa in Tokyo, delivering a competitive performance despite the loss. After that fight and Top Rank’s exit from ESPN, the Australian moved to Tasman Fighters, where he made his promotional debut in December on a card headlined by cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia.

Now preparing for his second fight under the Tasman banner, Moloney says the support of his new team, including promoter Spencer Brown’s Goldstar Promotions, gives him confidence that he is positioned for another title opportunity.
