Jaron “Boots” Ennis is targeting an undisputed run at super welterweight, with Josh Kelly and Sebastian Fundora lined up as his preferred next two opponents.
Ennis currently holds the WBA and WBO titles after stopping previously unbeaten Xander Zayas. According to promoter Eddie Hearn, the next step is a three-belt unification with IBF champion Kelly.
“I think that Boots will probably fight Josh Kelly next for the three belts, then the winner will fight Fundora and we’ve got one undisputed champion,” Hearn said.
A fight with Vergil Ortiz Jr. remains possible, but Hearn says Ennis is prioritising championship belts over rivalries for now.
“Boots is about legacy and belts,” Hearn said. “His focus, right now, is to try and be undisputed.”
Ennis-Kelly could take place in December or early 2027. Fundora, meanwhile, is expected to defend his WBC title against mandatory challenger Ermal Hadribeaj in October, meaning an upset could change the final step of Ennis’ undisputed plan.
