Janibek Alimkhanuly is already targeting a unification fight with Canelo Alvarez if he can first defeat WBO super middleweight champion Hamzah Sheeraz.
The WBO recently named Janibek as Sheeraz’s mandatory challenger, giving the former middleweight champion a potential route to a title in a second division.
“Canelo, get ready!” Janibek wrote. “Inshalla, I’ll beat Sheeraz, and we’ll unify the title!”
For that plan to materialize, Janibek must first secure and win the Sheeraz fight. Canelo would also need to defeat WBC champion Christian Mbilli when they meet on October 31.
Even then, a Canelo fight would not be guaranteed, as the Mexican star would still have several other potential opponents available.
