Isaac "Pitbull" Cruz looks set to return on the same July Las Vegas card that will feature Manny Pacquiao against Mario Barrios.

Their first fight, on February 1, ended in a unanimous decision for Cruz (scores of 98‑92, 97‑93, and 96‑94). Many felt the bout was wider than the cards suggested because Cruz dominated the body attack, yet calls for a do‑over have persisted. Fierro welcomes the chance to avenge the loss; Cruz says a second meeting will erase any remaining doubt.

Critics argue the matchup is a sideways move for Cruz, who has been linked to title bouts with Gary Antuanne Russell, Richardson Hitchins, or Teofimo Lopez. Staying in the Fierro lane also cost him a lucrative Ryan Garcia fight in April that would have given him the WBA "regular" welterweight belt.

Stylistically, the rematch should still entertain. Cruz’s short, Tyson‑like pressure forced Fierro onto the back foot last time. Unless Fierro finds an answer to those rib‑roasting hooks, the sequel could be more one‑sided.
