Filip Hrgovic could be heading toward a major heavyweight fight with Moses Itauma on August 8 at London’s O2 Arena, but first he must defeat Dave Allen this Saturday in Doncaster.

Hrgovic enters the Allen fight as a strong favorite and has rebuilt well since his 2024 loss to Daniel Dubois. The Croatian has since recorded wins over Joe Joyce and David Adeleye, putting himself back into position for another major opportunity.

Allen now has extra motivation of his own. If he pulls off the upset, Hrgovic’s proposed fight with Itauma would disappear, and Allen could even push himself into the conversation for that August date.

Itauma is expected to be ringside in Doncaster as he continues to prepare for his next step. The 21-year-old southpaw has stopped Mike Balogun, Dillian Whyte and Jermaine Franklin in his last three fights, proving that he is truly one of the heavyweight division’s leading young contenders.

Hrgovic would represent a clear step up in experience for Itauma. He brings a strong amateur and professional background, durability, size, and recent form against proven heavyweights. But for now, the August plan depends on Doncaster. If Hrgovic handles Allen, he could be the next man asked to test whether Itauma’s rise is ready for the heavyweight elite.
