A late complication emerged ahead of Saturday’s heavyweight clash between Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder, after Wilder raised concerns about his gloves during fight week.
The issue surfaced on Friday, with promoter Kalle Sauerland confirming there had been “some dramatics” earlier in the day. Wilder later explained that the problem stemmed from discomfort due to previous hand injuries, stating the gloves provided were too tight and that he wanted to ensure there would be “no excuses” going into the fight.
While the situation initially caused concern, it is understood that the issue has since been resolved, allowing the bout to proceed as planned at the The O2 Arena.
