Galal Yafai is looking forward to a potential match up with Sunny Edwards in the near future, provided Edwards emerges victorious against Mexico’s Adrien Curiel.

Edwards, aged 28, aims to recover from his first career loss to Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez in a bout for the IBF and WBO flyweight titles. Yafai, aged 31, who fought alongside Edwards last December, is viewed as a probable future opponent for Edwards due to their common promoter Matchroom and the coaching influence of Yafai's trainer Rob McCracken.

Yafai predicts that talks regarding a potential showdown with Edwards will escalate shortly after Edwards fight with Curiel. He expressed his readiness by saying:

"I anticipate facing him next. If it doesn't materialize, I'll move forward; however, if it does happen, I'm prepared."

Yafai mentioned that while nothing is confirmed yet, initial discussions have taken place with Matchroom's CEO Frank Smith. Additionally, Yafai stressed that although money plays a role in decision making, it's not the sole factor considered. He envisions the fight happening in Birmingham or Sheffield but remains primarily focused on the financial aspects.

Yafai recognized the importance of facing Edwards, mentioning that it would earn him more respect and a financial boost. Despite their shared background in amateur boxing and mutual admiration, Yafai is concentrating on the professional aspects of a potential match. He mentioned that their past sparring sessions have given him valuable insights into Edwards fighting style, making him feel ready for the challenge with guidance from his trainer Rob McCracken's vast boxing expertise.

Having watched the Rodriguez Edwards fight up close, Yafai predicts that Edwards will emerge victorious against Curiel. He praised Edwards precision and suggested that despite not being a power hitter, Edwards should win by decision.
