Tyson Fury has hinted at a major announcement involving Dana White, adding another twist to the already complicated build-up to his expected fight with Anthony Joshua.
Fury and Joshua are finally lined up to meet later this year, but both men still have business to handle first. Joshua faces Kristian Prenga on July 25 in Jeddah, while Fury is now expected to fight again in August before moving toward the long-awaited all-British showdown.
Fury appeared at the UFC White House event and suggested he is set to begin working with White in some form. “I’ll let Dana do the speaking and do the announcement,” Fury said. “It’s a massive announcement.”
The timing is interesting because White has repeatedly claimed he will be involved in promoting Fury vs. Joshua, despite Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren pushing back on that idea. Hearn has even said the contract prevents Zuffa, TKO or White from having promotional involvement in the fight.
Fury did not reveal exactly what the announcement is, but he made clear he is focused on staying active. “There’s a potential fight in August and maybe at the end of the year it happens [with Joshua],” he said.
