South African police have arrested four suspects in connection with the killing of former world champion Zolani Tete.
Tete was shot outside his home in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, last week while sitting in his car and waiting for the gate to open, according to police.
Authorities said two armed men wearing balaclavas ambushed the vehicle and opened fire. A woman who was inside the car was also injured and remains hospitalized.
One of the four suspects was arrested two days earlier and was expected to appear in court on Monday. Police said the remaining three would appear at a later date.
Tete was a former WBO bantamweight champion and also held the World Boxing Federation flyweight title earlier in his career.
