Floyd Schofield Jr. to face Lucas Bahdi for vacant WBA lightweight title

Floyd Schofield Jr. will face Lucas Bahdi for the vacant WBA lightweight title on October 10 after Golden Boy and Most Valuable Promotions reached an agreement before the scheduled purse bid.

Schofield is ranked No. 1 by the WBA, while Bahdi is No. 2. The fight is expected to take place in Las Vegas.

The bout gives Schofield his first world-title opportunity after his planned fight with Shakur Stevenson fell apart in February 2025 because of illness. He returned four months later and stopped Tevin Farmer in the first round but has not fought since.

Bahdi has built momentum with wins over Ashton Sylve, Armando Casamonica, Ryan James Racaza and Roger Gutierrez.

“We are thankful for the chance to fight for a title,” Schofield’s manager Michael Miller said. “It is something we have waited on for years.”

The vacant belt became available after Gervonta Davis left the title picture.
