Fabio Wardley has activated his rematch clause with Daniel Dubois, but his team says the second fight will not happen immediately.

Wardley’s manager, Michael Ofo, confirmed that the clause has been triggered, while making clear that Wardley will only return once he is fully recovered from the first fight.

“We’ve activated the rematch,” Ofo said. “Fabio’s excited to be in such a fight again. He knows the mistakes that he made and wants to get it back in blood.”

Ofo said Wardley was checked by several doctors after the fight and did not suffer a concussion, broken nose or fractures. He described the damage as mostly cosmetic, with cuts and blood that still need time to heal properly.

The manager also dismissed suggestions that the rematch could happen within three months, saying the timing is in Wardley’s favor under the agreement.

“It’s not going to happen within three months,” Ofo said. “It happens when Fabio is ready.”

Wardley believes he can correct the mistakes from the first fight, although Ofo acknowledged that Dubois remains a difficult opponent. He also pointed to Wardley’s rematch win over Fraser Clarke as proof that his fighter can respond strongly after setbacks.
