One of boxing's most promising young talents, Ernesto "Tito" Mercado, has officially signed with Matchroom Boxing. The announcement was made during a press conference at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Los Angeles.

Mercado has quickly become known as a "wrecking machine" in the ring. His rise to prominence has been swift, with knockout victories over former world title challengers Jeremia Nakathila, Hank Lundy, and Jayson Velez - all within just nine rounds combined.

Mercado's journey to this point has been characterized by his decision to remain a free agent, despite receiving numerous offers from major promoters over the years. His fights have been financially supported by his father and trainer, Neto Mercado, and have largely taken place in smaller venues. However, with Matchroom's promotional power behind him, Mercado is now poised to gain the broader recognition he deserves.

The junior welterweight division is stacked with talent, and Mercado is ready to take on all comers. Matchroom's stable includes IBF champion Liam Paro, former titleholders Subriel Matias and Regis Prograis, and other notable names like Jack Catterall and Dalton Smith. Hearn also hinted at potential matchups with big names like Teofimo Lopez Jr., Jose Ramirez, and Josh Taylor, further increasing the excitement around Mercado's future.
