Eddie Hearn has told Terence Crawford directly that he believes the retired star should have suffered his first professional defeat against Israil Madrimov in 2024.
Crawford retired in December with a perfect 42-0 record after becoming a five-division world champion and undisputed champion in three weight classes.
Speaking to Crawford during the TNT broadcast of Andy Ruiz Jr. vs. Damian Knyba, Hearn revisited Crawford’s close fight with Madrimov and said: “I thought you lost that fight against Madrimov.”
Crawford defeated Madrimov by unanimous decision in Los Angeles to win the WBA super welterweight title, with the judges scoring the bout 115-113, 115-113 and 116-112 in his favor.
The fight was considerably more competitive than many expected and remains one of the closest contests of Crawford’s career.
