Unbeaten junior welterweight contender Liam Paro (23-0, 14 KOs) of Australia is "extremely upset" after being forced to cancel a bout with Robbie Davies Jr. (23-3, 15 KOs) due to an injury sustained during a training camp.
Paro withdrew from the high-stakes fight against Davies because of a facial fracture, according to Fox Sports reporter Ben Damon. Paro is now physically unable to move forward with the bout.
The manner of the injury's occurrence is unknown. Paro disclosed a week ago that he was sparring with undefeated lightweight champion Devin Haney in Las Vegas.
The fight between Paro and Davies was scheduled on March 11 in Liverpool. Callum Smith, a contender for the light heavyweight title, will be the main attraction of the show when he fights Pawel Stepien.
According to reports, the injury is not severe, and Paro anticipates being back soon.
