Derek Chisora has targeted WBA heavyweight champion Murat Gassiev as the opponent for the 51st fight of his professional career.
The 42-year-old is coming off a split decision defeat to Deontay Wilder in April. Chisora was dropped twice in the bout but disputed the result and initially demanded an immediate rematch.
With Wilder now being linked to Oleksandr Usyk’s final fight, Chisora has shifted his attention to Gassiev, who was elevated to full WBA champion after Usyk vacated his titles.
Chisora tagged Gassiev’s promoter, IBA Pro, in a social media post featuring a graphic of both heavyweights as chickens alongside the caption: “Fight 51.” The pair also came face to face earlier this month after Gassiev defended his title with a sixth-round stoppage of Peter Kadiru.
A fight with Gassiev would give Chisora a third world title opportunity following previous defeats to Vitali Klitschko and Tyson Fury.
