Dave Allen returned to winning ways with a four-round decision victory over Ross McGuigan in Rotherham, England.

The fight was Allen’s first appearance since his third-round stoppage loss to Filip Hrgovic on May 16, when his corner pulled him out after three difficult rounds. Instead of taking a long break, Allen chose to stay active and had already lined up quick return dates.

Allen is now 26-9-2 (20 KOs) and is scheduled to fight again on July 26 in Doncaster. Another win there could put him back in position for a bigger opportunity later in the year.

There had been an offer for Allen to appear on the undercard of Katie Taylor’s farewell fight at Croke Park in September, but he has since declined that option.

One fight now being discussed is against Misfits heavyweight Chase DeMoor. DeMoor recently called for the bout, and Allen responded by saying that if DeMoor can get a professional license, he would be happy to “show him some levels in the boxing game.”
